Welcome to my very first newsletter! I’m excited to share my journey with you—a path filled with societal expectations, formal education, and ultimately, the discovery of my true passions. If you’ve ever felt lost or stuck following what others say, this story might resonate with you.
Following the Path Laid Out for Me
For the first 15 years of my life, I did what society and my parents said I should do. Like many of you, I grew up following instructions from those around me—parents, teachers, and the education system. At home, I was taught to perform basic tasks: show how I walk, identify my eyes, nose, teeth, hands, and legs. These small acts were the beginning of my conditioning.
The School Years: A System of Fixed Tasks
When I started school, I quickly learned that it was another layer of structured tasks. Each year, I had to complete assignments and tests, all of which were meticulously graded. My performance was summarized in a scorecard. The higher my scores, the more I fit into the expectations of the system.
Despite my average performance, I was more interested in sports and understanding how things worked. School wasn’t my favorite place, but I was repeatedly told that good grades were essential for a successful life. When I completed my 10th grade with a 7.8 CGPA, I thought I might finally be able to pursue a variety of interests. However, the pressure didn’t let up. I was told to complete my 12th grade and then enjoy life.
Discovering a Passion for Science
I chose the Science stream because it aligned with my curiosity about how the world works. This curiosity was fueled more by Discovery Channel, Nat Geo, Discovery Science, and History TV18 than by my school teachers. Shows like “How the Universe Works,” “We Have Been Warned,” “Science of Stupid,” and many others sparked my interest in science. These programs taught me more than any classroom could, and they ignited a curiosity to think and learn differently.
Higher Education: An Unfulfilled Promise
After completing my 12th grade, I realized that my life didn’t change as expected. Again, I was told to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies to secure a good job and enjoy life afterward. Dutifully, I followed this advice, only to find myself with degrees but no clear direction or fulfillment.
Questioning the System
After 17 years in formal education, I began to question everything. How do people get rich? What do they do differently? I turned to books like “Rich Dad Poor Dad,” “The Richest Man in Babylon,” “Think and Grow Rich,” “21 Success Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires,” “The Psychology of Money,” and “The Almanack of Naval Ravikant.” Each book shifted my mindset, influenced my daily routine, and changed how I think and act.
Building a New Lifestyle
Armed with new knowledge, I started applying these principles to my life. I developed a lifestyle based on what I learned from these books and various YouTube channels. However, I still struggled to earn money from my creative passions. To support myself, I took a job where I performed well and received admiration, but the job demanded all my time, leaving little room for the lifestyle I had built.
The Corporate Experience
Working in a multinational corporation (MNC) for almost 10 months, I realized my progress in learning new things and executing them had slowed down. There seemed to be no growth opportunities comparable to those I saw as possible through personal development. Recognizing this stagnation, I decided to resign.
Starting My Own Digital Agency
Determined to create my path, I started my digital agency. Over the past year, I’ve learned coding, digital marketing, video editing, graphic design, and more. Inspired by Dan Koe, I’m now working full-time as a digital strategist. I’m building an audience on Twitter, sharing my journey, and teaching others to grow faster than I did.
